The Ainsworth Dyer Bridge

The Ainsworth Dyer Bridge is named for an Edmonton-based soldier who was killed in April of 2002 in Afghanistan. Dyer proposed to his girlfriend Jocelyn Van Sloten on that bridge. When the bridge was dedicated, a friend of both Dyer and  Jocelyn said: “As long as the bridge is there, people will remember the fallen.”

As I was walking on the Bridge I noticed the light and time of day was right for a photograph. The geometrical placements of the shadows made for a perfect picture . After crossing the bridge I realized it was a memorial for a Fallen Soldier. I was moved and had to create something special that will carry his memory.

A story of love and war contained within one powerful image…a magnificent memorial in itself.
